Nuwan Pradeep hamstrung and out of practice match
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep had to leave the field in a game between Sri Lanka and a South African Invitation XI after suffering an injury to his right hamstring.
Pradeep had bowled just 10 balls in the warm up game for Sri Lanka ahead of the first Test against South Africa which began today at Benoni when he left the field
"We can confirm that Nuwan Pradeep has injured his right hamstring," Anura Tenekoon, the Sri Lanka team manager, told the website ESPNcricinfo. "He will undergo a scan after the day's play and then we will be able to assess whether he will be ready for the first Test."
Nuwan Pradeep had a similar injury earlier this year during Sri Lanka’s tour of England when he suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament after stepping on a cricket ball during a warm up match.
That injury meant Pradeep had to leave the tour without playing an international match, Sri Lankan skipper and Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Tillakaratne Dilshan will hope the current injury is nowhere as serious and that Pradeep is fit and available for the first Test which begins on December 15th at Centurion.
