NZ swept aside by a Virat-Gambhir hurricane

New Zealand was in for a Virat Gambhir problem and a huge defeat when they faced India at Jaipur for the second ODI. Gambhir's leading from the front century and Royal Challenger Virat Kohli's 73 balls 64 tore apart any wishful castles that NZ were building after posting 258 as a challenge, batting first.

Kohli continued with his brilliant form striking boundaries almost at will and gave stability in the middle when Murli Vijay returned after partnering for 87 runs with Gautam Gambhir. Kohli's form urged Gambhir to continue with his natural game and thereby guide India to a huge victory, reaching 259/2 with 7 overs to spare. The two strummed up a partnership of 116 runs which completely swept aside the Kiwis. The partnership laid a solid foundation - a winning one for India - from which there could only be a one way ticket to victory, which India gladly accepted.

The maturity shown by Kohli is surely making the Indian selectors stand up and notice him. Can he be the person India looking for the number 3 position in the ODIs? Is his World Cup berth sealed now?
