Over in 2 days! Karnataka out of Ranji trophy

Over in 2 days!

Karnataka was blown away by Baroda in the Ranji Trophy semi-finals today losing by 7 wickets. On a dry wicket, after Baroda was bundled out for 153, it was expected that Karnataka put behind the ghost of their first innings batting debacle and post a decent total for Baroda to chase in the fourth innings. But in one of the most pathetic batting display, it was a classic case of a landslide in the cricket field as Karnataka stumbled from 65/3 to 88 all out in a flash, leaving Baroda only 43 runs to win the semis. Robin Uthappa (35), Manish Pandey (11), Stuart Binny (14) and KB Pawan (15) were the only batsmen to reach double figures as wickets tumbled like nine pins.

Poor form of the Karnataka's top order batsmen was becoming a headache for the team, but in the semis the team couldn't regroup themselves to fight it out even though the bowlers kept a strong grip in the match after dismissing Baroda for 153 in the first innings. Sunil Joshi had picked 6 wickets but all the good work by the bowlers were squandered by the batsmen on the day.

Baroda reached their target losing 3 wickets to reach the finals in 9 years, having made it to the finals in 2001-02.
