PK starts, Sehwag finishes victory over Lanka

Two incidents characterised the match between India and Sri Lanka today. The first ball of the match produced a wicket, when a swinging delivery by Praveen Kumar knocked off Upul Tharanga’s stumps. The last ball of the match produced a six, but the runs didn’t add to the striker Virendra Sehwag’s score of 99 as it was declared a no-ball and India needed only a single to win the match. Sehwag needed s single too for the century, but Lankan spinner Suraj Randiv decided to bowl a big no-ball to deny the century! Both the deliveries however, characterised the emphatic way that India danced to victory over Sri Lanka, but not without providing some fare share of hiccups as India was down to 32/3, chasing a paltry 170.

Sehwag however, played a comparatively sedate knock, and concentrated on grafting partnerships to steer India to victory. His 59-run partnership with Suresh Raina and then the unbeaten 80 runs partnership with skipper MS Dhoni typified India’s will to win this match.

The standard, however, was set by the bowlers, especially by PK. His swing bowling proved too hot to be handled by the Lankan top order. Ashish Nehra also provided ample support from the other end, while the spinners Pragyan Ojha and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with valuable performance on a fast paced wicket.

The win and the bonus point take India to the top of the points table and on a higher ground against the rest of the teams in the championship.

India through to finals. Thanks to brilliant bowling from our RCB's Praveen Kumar. Virat Kohli and Ross Taylor disappoint though.

Praveen is bowling well. I wish his form does wonders for India and RCB. Well done Praveen.. Keep knocking down the opposition batsman's off stumps. :)

If the media is to be believed, Dilshan provocated Randiv to bowl the no ball. This wont do any good to Dilshan. He has share the dressing room with Sehwag while in Delhi Daredevils team. That must bother DD a lot. Whatever has happened is not good for cricket. What if the incident had occured if Sehwag was on 299?
