Pujara shines in Challenger Trophy
Cheteshwar Pujara scored 158* in his side India B's 4 run loss to India A in their NKP Salve Challenger Trophy match at Rajkot on Sunday.
India A's openers Shikhar Dhawan and Robin Uthappa (67) added 146 for the first wicket in just 26.3 overs after they won the toss and chose to bat first. While Dhawan carried on to post 152, Dinesh Karthik chipped in with a 40 ball 66* to take India A to a massive total of 335/4 in their 50 overs.
Murali Vijay (15) fell fairly cheaply in India B's chase but Srikkanth Anirudha (63) and skipper Cheteshwar Pujara added 80 quick runs for the second wicket. Pujara batted through substantial partnerships with Robin Bist (38), Baba Aparajith (20), Ravindra Jadeja (27) to take India B as close as possible. Pujara and his team delayed the big hitting for the last 5 overs and even managed to find boundaries at the end but still fell short of the title marginally.
Pujara finished on 158* (126b, 4x16, 6x2) leading India B while Abhimanyu Mithun finished with 0/67 and two catches playing for India A.
