India vs Zimbabwe: Second T20 International

Suresh Raina led India to a convincing win in the two-match T20 Internationals series against Zimbabwe to end their tour on a high note. Raina’s confident unbeaten 72 propelled India to an 7-win victory in the last of the T20 International matches over a hapless Zimbabwe.

India started on a bright note with the bowlers continuing their stellar performance in the T20 matches for the second match in a row. Zimbabwe could muster only 140 thanks to a fighting 45 by Tatenda Taibu and some hefty blows off Indian offie Ashwin who was smashed for 48 in his four overs.

The Indian chase was, however, nothing spectacular except that it had more substance and meat on this day. Though Nama Ojha faltered for the second time in two days, Murali Vijay found glimpses of his touch and power. Along with skipper Raina, Vijay carved a solid 79-run partnership which took India to the doorsteps of victory. Raina’s responsible innings finally steered India to a comfortable victory with two overs to spare and 7 wickets in hand.

Apart from the victory, the top order striking form was what India achieved from the last match in the Zimbabwe tour, ahead of the Asia Cup which is to begin from June 15.

Brief Score:

Zimbabwe: 140/5 in 20 overs
India: 144/3 in 18 overs (Vijay 46, Raina 72*)

India wins by seven wickets
