Ranji Trophy: Outright win for Haryana in Round 3
Haryana bagged their first outright victory this season as they beat Jharkhand by 30 runs at the Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium, Rohtak in the Group A fixture on Sunday.
In their first innings, Haryana were all-out for 309 in 93 overs, after their middle order contributed with valuable runs in spite of losing wickets simultaneously. Rahul Dalal (58) and Sunny Singh (53) got to their respective fifties, while others scored in double figures as well. Harshal Patel's useful knock of 35 in the lower middle-order ensured Haryana got past the 300-run mark. Jharkhand's Varun Aaron was in phenomenal form, bagging figures of 4/48, causing destruction in the Haryana camp.
Jharkhand's reply was characterised by a gutsy 95 from Saurabh Tiwary, who was the top scorer in the line-up. However, it was a batting collapsed of sorts as Mohit Sharma wreaked havoc with 4 wickets to his name, while Joginder Sharma picked 2. Jharkhand were all-out for 231.
Haryana started their 2nd innings with a lead of 78 runs but were bundled out for 124, setting a target of 203 runs for Jharkhand. Once again, it was Mohit Sharma with a four-fer, alongside Patel (3/42) who restricted their opponent for 172, narrowing the gap of victory to 30 runs.
As a result of this victory, Haryana have added 6 crucial points to their tally.
