RCB announces the formation of Fan Advisory Board
Decision taken at the Fan Summit- 2012 to build a stronger relationship with fans
The Royal Challengers Bangalore, runners-up of the fourth edition of IPL in 2011, announced the formation of a Fan Advisory Board as part of the team’s continuous effort to engage and strengthen relationship with the fans across the country. The decision was announced at the Fan Summit – 2012 held in Bangalore on Saturday, January 28th.
The Fan Advisory Board will be constituted of 20 die-hard fan-members who will be responsible for initiating and coordinating various activities of the RCB Fan Club including running of contests, organising fan meets, driving Green Initiative programmes, recruiting and engaging with fans through interesting and relevant content on the RCB website and fan pages on the social network sites. This Fan Advisory Board will be retained until the next IPL in 2013 when new members will be inducted.
Mr. Sidhartha Mallya, Director of Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd, said, “I am delighted to announce the formation of the Fan Advisory Board, a first by any IPL team, in the build up to 2012 edition of the Indian Premier League. Fans have always been the focus of RCB and it has been our endeavour to find innovative ways to engage with the fans and bring the team closer to them. This unique initiative will further help strengthen the bond between the fans and the team as the Advisory Board represents the RCB Fan Club.”
The 20 members for the advisory board were chosen after a selection round in which fans were asked to submit their ideas on making RCB the best club in the world. The youngest member of the club is 14-year old Mridul Mittal from Jaipur and the oldest is Bangalore’s Raghu Nath proving once again the widespread appeal of Team RCB. The 20-member Board has ten fans from Bangalore while the remaining come from other parts of the country.
The 20-member Board has been divided into four groups with designated roles. The groups have been named after the four heroes of RCB — captain Daniel Vettori, Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and Zaheer Khan. Meanwhile, the RCB team management will aid and support the initiatives undertaken by the Fan Advisory Board.
The Fan Summit -2012 ended with an interaction between the fans and some members of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad.
