RCBians dominate Duleep Trophy game
Abhimanyu Mithun, Vinay Kumar, KP Appanna and Saurabh Tiwary made big contributions to shape Day 1 of the 4 day Duleep Trophy clash between East Zone and South Zone at Visakhapatnam on Sunday.
Vinay had opener Dheeraj Jadhav in the third over of the day after South Zone won the toss and chose to bowl first. After Mithun removed the other opener Manish Vardhan, Stuart Binny (2/40) took two wickets in the 13th over to reduce East Zone to 21/4. Vinay Kumar (1/29) first caught his counterpart, East Zone skipper Nataraj Behara before Anustup Majumdar was caught behind by CM Gautam.
Saurabh Tiwary began the fightback for East Zone but Mithun (2/43) and Appanna (1/30) struck again to remove Biplab Samantray and Shiv Gautam, leaving EZ at 66/6.
Tiwary finally found a patient partner to rebuild the EZ innings in Basant Mohanty. The duo added an unbeaten 121 for the 7th wicket, taking East Zone to 187/6 at Stumps on Day 1. Tiwary finished the day on 84* (162b, 4x10, 1x6) while Mohanty was on 51* (102b, 4x3, 6x2).
