RCB’s young guns make heads turn
Last week saw senior members of RCB Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and Ravi Rampaul notch up notable performances in the Caribbean tri-series but the young guns too have managed to make headlines with their performances elsewhere.
First up is Vijay Zol, India's U-19 captain for the tri-series in Australia. He followed up a match winning 46 in the team's first match against Australia U-19 with a thunderous ton against New Zealand U-19 in Darwin. India won both matches by a handsome margin and Vijay Zol's captaincy and batting were rightly lauded.
Closer home, Karun Nair struck another ton in the ongoing SA Srinivasan Memorial Trophy (under-25) tournament. He scored 154 in 176 balls and helped his team, the President’s XI, claim the innings honors against Raichur Zone. Nair had previously scored a 130 for Vulture CC last month in the KSCA group 1, Division 1 tournament for the Sir Mirza Ismail Shield.
Young pacer Sandeep Warrier was selected for the emerging bowlers' camp to be held at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore 8th July onwards. Warrier's bowling was highly appreciated by the senior selection Committee headed by former cricketer and current national selector Sandip Patil.
