Royal Challengers Bangalore Cycle for a Cause
Bengaluru folks were treated to the sight of players from the Royal Challengers Bangalore cycling from UB City on Vithal Mallya road to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium to encourage Bengalurians to do their bit for preserving the city’s greenery.
Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, Daniel Vettori, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Sreenath Aravind and Coach Ray Jennings were the riders pedalling away to their workplace and their message was simple: Cycle to work or take the bus to create a carbon-free environment.
Bengaluru is a very pleasant metro to be in and the city’s green cover has a lot to do with it. Preserving and further growing the greenery of Bengaluru has been one of RCB’s biggest objectives. They have shown their commitment to the cause, putting eco-friendly measures in place during games, arranging public transport to every game in the city and even playing a game in a special green jersey earlier this year to spread awareness.
Virat Kohli led the cricketers on their cycling trip, racing ahead while the rest cycled together, Dan Vettori drawing the loudest cheers all along the route till they reached the stadium where five lucky fans who won an online contest received a bicycle each to help them take the message of Go Green further.
The end of the function saw Ray waving RCB's alternative green flag, Dilshan and Gayle beaming their giant smiles and a whole lot of Bengalurians proud of their city and its greenery.
