Royal Challengers to meet New South Wales in CLT20 Semifinal

The Royal Challengers Bangalore are through to the semifinals of the Champions League T20 after their thrilling 2 wicket win against the South Australia Redbacks at Bangalore.

Splendid knocks from Virat Kohli, Tillakaratne Dilshan and a priceless cameo by Arun Karthik, who had to hit a six off the last ball of the innings for a win, helped them chase down the massive 214/2 posted by the Redbacks.

RCB only had 2 points going in to the final match of the CLT20 group stage, earned on their 51 run win against Somerset but the margin of that victory had improved their Net Run Rate substantially, putting them at an advantage compared to the other sides.

The win against the Redbacks tied them with the Kolkata Knight Riders and Warriors at 4 points each but their NRR of +0.325, the highest in Group B, pushed them to the second spot in the points table for the group.

They will play the Group A toppers New South Wales Blues in the first semifinal on Friday night at their homeground, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

The second semifinal will be played between Group A runner up Mumbai Indians and Group B toppers Somerset at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday night.
