Some bad news for Royal Challengers. The flamboyant striker at the top order, Jesse Ryder will miss the Indian Premier League 2010 with a groin injury, according to New Zealand Cricket which announced on Thursday.

According to reports from New Zealand, Ryder’s manager Aaron Klee said about Ryder, "He had a taste of the IPL last year and he certainly wants to earn his place in the 2011 tournament. Jesse has his career in front of him and is well aware that when he gets back to full fitness there will be plenty of opportunities to play in tournaments like the IPL - but the priority is always playing for the national team."

The report also added, Ryder would spend the next month at the NZC High Performance Centre in Christchurch working with NZC medical and coaching staff.
Ryder has been an integral part of Club RCB’s campaign in IPL 2009, though he missed the Champions League T20 Championships.

It’s definitely a big blow to the Club’s preparations for this year’s IPL, but to what extent? Chip in with your responses.

I think Cameron White with his current form stands a better chance than Merve. I would say 4 foreign players till Taylor returns should be Kallis, White, Morgan, and KP.

This time we have bowlers who can bown full quota of 4 overs - Mithun, Vinay, Anil, Praveen Kumar and Kallis. And there will be Cameron White's leg spin in case needed !!!

1. Pandey
2. Kallis
3. White
4. Morgan
5. K.P
6. Kohli/Uthappa
7. Dravid
8. Praveen Kumar
9. Vinay Kumar
10. Mithun
11. Jumbo !

no need for replacemnts... guys... there will be no ross taylor for first 7 matches...so my foreign players r morgan( since he is the only left hander),kp, vandermerwe and kallis

we should take ryder's unavailablity as a blessing in disguise. we now have an overseas player slot and
we also have funds since we didn't do much purchase in 2010 auction. so we must find a replacement since rosco can't play for 7 matches. Afridi would be a great choice but we must make sure tat we must find an all rounder or a bowler as his replacement.........................

Since we have best speedster in Abhimanyu Mithun,
no need to look into Dale Styne (sorry u have to worm benches),
Our Bowling atttcake will be: Kallis, Mithun, VinayKumar, Praveen Kumar, Kumble and Van De Merwe are fix Bowling attack.
So we are left with 2 slot of foreign players in Ross Taylor(No reason to drop him) and Morgon/Boucher.
If all r fit then, big worry for think tank and management is:
Where and how to accommodate KP and in form all rounder Cameron White.

My expected Playing 11 is:

1. Pandey / Uttappa (if Pandey injured)
2. Kallis / J ArunKumar (we have to drop Kallis)
3. Dravid
4. Kohli
5. Ross Taylor / KP
6. Morgon / Boucher / KP(then Goswami wkt keeper)
7. Vinay Kumar
8. Van Der Merwe
9. Praveen Kumar
10. A Mithun
11. Kumble

12. B Akhil /Uttapppa

A vacant post for a foreigner now... Afridi is a good choice... An allrounder in a good nick..
Nik3010 on 28 Jan 2010, 08:51 PM
I agree with Kunal.. Eoin Morgan can do it..
ananth-chintanpalli on 28 Jan 2010, 08:31 PM

pradeep-cornelio on 28 Jan 2010, 08:00 PM
I think we can now buy a new foriegn player as a replacement for him! But do we need a replacement? We have Morgan to do the Job!
