Sreenath Aravind named in India squad for England ODIs
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Karnataka fast bowler Sreenath Aravind has been named as a part of India’s squad for the first two ODIs against England in October.
Aravind has been an integral part of RCB’s attack in 2011 and a consistent performer for Karnataka in the past few seasons. The left arm pacer was the third highest wicket taker in the 2011 IPL with 21 wickets, leading the charts for RCB and was instrumental in Karnataka’s progress to the Ranji Trophy final in 2009-10. Aravind finished the next season (2010-11) as the second highest wicket taker for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy as well as for South Zone in the Duleep Trophy. It’s all made incredible by the fact that he was involved in a potentially career threatening accident before he even made his first class debut in 2008.
On being contacted, the youngster said he was very happy about his selection but added that his focus is on the current job at hand, the Champions League T20 and more specifically, RCB’s match tonight against KKR.
The first two ODIs of the England series will be played in Hyderabad (Oct 14th) and New Delhi (Oct 17th) with the remaining matches on 20th, 23rd and 25th October at Mohali, Mumbai and Kolkata respectively.
Aravind joins two other rookies Varun Aaron, the pacer who was a part of the ODI squad to England but did not play a single game and Rahul Sharma, the leggie who shone for the Pune Warriors in the IPL.
Squad: MS Dhoni (capt & wk), Gautam Gambhir, Parthiv Patel, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Varun Aaron, Umesh Yadav, Vinay Kumar, S Aravind, Rahul Sharma, Manoj Tiwary, Praveen Kumar.
