Sri Lanka wrap up ODI series 3-1
Sri Lanka won the 5 ODI series 3-1 with a victory in the final ODI at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday night.
Pakistan rode on 50s from Imran Farhat and Umar Akmal to set Sri Lanka a target of 247/7 before reducing them to 138/6. But Angelo Mathews rallied with the lower order batsmen, taking SL to a sensational 2 wicket win in 49.4 overs. Mathews hit 80* off 76 b, Dinesh Chandimal had earlier chipped in with 54 to help keep SL in the chase as they ultimately posted 248/8.
Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan ended the tournament as the third highest scorer and as SL’s second highest run getter with 158 runs in 4 innings at an average of 52.66.
Dilshan made scores of 5, 24 and 10 in three of the four ODIs but his 119* in the second ODI, the only ton in a series where batsmen found it hard to score easily, led SL’s turnaround. The third ODI, scheduled in Colombo, was washed out due to heavy rains.
