Team India reaps the Common Wealth at Mohali
They say, Test cricket is the ultimate test of a cricketer. That’s where one gets grilled in temperament, skills, guts and attitude.
They said it right.
As Pragyan Ojha survived a leg-before appeal and a run-out chance which resulted in 4 overthrows, India won the first Test curving through a hair-pin bend and with a hair separating the winners and the losers. Mohali proved to be the ultimate stage for cricket as the first Test left the viewers breathless and perhaps ate nails for lunch. But eventually we left with a contented heart which left saying, India shining!
It was another kind of Common Wealth that Team India reaped at Mohali. The combined effort of the bowlers in both the innings, the batsmen in the first and the daring attitude of the Ishant, Laxman showed India the way. The common wealth of team effort, truly reached its peak today at Mohali.

When the chips were down and the whole of Australia was rejoicing at the impending victory over India in India, three cricketers formed a pack to bail out Team India in one of the most fascination Test matches ever.
One injured on his right knee, another picked up a back injury and the last, although scored a duck while his chance came in India’s chase of 216, came in as a runner.
Down at 124/8 the United Colours of team India glared the most on Day 5, as Ishant Sharma, a Very Very Special Laxman and Suresh Raina, crafted a partnership worth in Platinum.
Wondering why Raina was crucial in the partnership? Especially after the confusion Raina created resulting in the run-out of skipper Dhoni when India needed him the most. Well the answer lies in the fact of Raina’s thrifty legs, converting the single to two’s at crucial junctures and giving much valuable solidarity as an accomplished batsman to Laxman. The latter needed it as carrying on a partnership with a tailender sometimes becomes a frustrating exercise. And frustration setting in could have been the biggest threat to India’s chances in the Test – if anybody saw any, especially after Sachin’s fall. That wicket was thought to be a death knell delivered by Australia. Ricky Ponting dreams of winning a test series in India was suddenly becoming a reality.
But little did he know, Laxman was dreaming bigger. This lion hearted Hyderbadi is a typical 5-day player, absolutely composed, temperament of a high-flying eagle and the assurances of all-covered life insurance scheme. His calming effect covered Ishant too. His 92 ball stay for 31 runs out of the 81 runs partnership was based on a confidence and a gutsy attitude of weathering the storm in the middle. The right knee was hurting him alright, but his willow was inflicting injuries to the Aussies. The delight fast ran out of Ponting’s face, came back momentarily when Ojha was trapped in-front but vanished again as umpire Billy Bowden turned it down.
