Time to return the favour to the Sunrisers

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bangalore 4PM
M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore

For the second time in three days, Royal Challengers Bangalore will lock horns with the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Except this time the venue will be Bangalore’s stomping ground and Virat Kohli’s side will be eager to return the favour after Sunday’s Super Over finish.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will hope their batsmen come good in the home game, they will be bolstered by the return of AB de Villiers. Tillakaratne Dilshan may have to concede his place to Moises Henriques who made a 40 besides taking 2 important wickets in the tie at Hyderabad.

Karun Nair could pave the way for KL Rahul while Mayank Agarwal could open the batting with Chris Gayle with AB placed in his slot. Skipper Virat Kohli too will have to be on the top of his game, having thrown away two starts. The M Chinnaswamy wicket is expected to adhere to Kohli’s preferred team balance and aid pacers a bit. Jaydev Unadkat, Henriques and Vinay Kumar were all impressive and should get another go here.

At the same time, the Sunrisers will have Dale Steyn, Ishant Sharma, Thisara Perera and even Ashish Reddy chipping in with tidy overs of varying pace bowling. The first three can be good operators, match winners on their own day while the fourth is capable of surprises, like his return catch off a slower ball to get rid of Kohli on Sunday. RCB’s batsmen will have to be careful and collected if they want this revenge story to go their way.

Hyderabad had Hanuma Vihari to thank but it is doubtful if the youngster will bowl at Bangalore. The battle between in-form leggie Amit Mishra and legendary offie Muralitharan could again have a big bearing on the match if the pace attacks cancel each other out. RCB have an advantage in the sense that Murali Kartik is a much better deputy than any of the spin bowling options Mishra has at Hyderabad.

Their batsmen again had Vihari to thank for keeping the chase together and Cameron White for the Super Over blast. White is a former RCBian and will be aware of the capabilities of the pitch and after his Super Over pyrotechnics, he will have tasted blood. He will be looking for more runs on Tuesday and if he starts hitting his rhythm, will be a big threat for RCB.

The team will also have to put up a tighter fielding and bowling display. The Sunrisers were given balls to score off frequently and their stealing of runs was not challenged enough, letting them edge closer to the target.

It is not clear if Shikhar Dhawan might join Hyderabad but Kumar Sangakkara, Parthiv Patel, Akshath Reddy, Vihari and Perera are able batsmen too but any total gains a daunting feel when being defended by Dale Steyn.

Steyn, White and a batting order that is yet to get in the swing of things in IPL 2013: RCB’s challenges to face on Tuesday.
