There was an initially announced 2 hour flight delay en route Delhi to Bengaluru but upon reaching the airport, the delay was another forty minutes.
The players were ushered into the Kingfisher lounge which was crowded at that point. Anyway, after about ten minutes of everybody barely finding a place to sit, a convenient arrangement was entered into with a coffee restaurant chain and the team given an exclusive area.

There was an initially announced 2 hour flight delay en route Delhi to Bengaluru but upon reaching the airport, the delay was another forty minutes.

Chris Gayle had been prominent with his white headphones and settled in to some music. AB de Villiers followed suit. After about 20 minutes came a surprise – Virat Kohli in civilian clothes. He was travelling separately on a later flight but now, the two flights seemed to be leaving at almost the same time. His usual jovial self, Virat joked around with Zak (Zaheer) and exchanged high fives with AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle.
Sid Mallya soon arrived. “How was the game?” someone asked, adding “Sorry, it’s the same question you’ve been asked many times since last night.” Sid replied, “No problem, yes, it was an enjoyable game. Most sides would have folded up but look how we came out on top.”
He then joined Ray and Dilshan who were until then immersed in a computer. Zak confided in us that the army like green cap he’s been wearing when flying is just something he liked. Somebody had remarked that it made him look like a US Confederate soldier in the American Civil War to which he replied. “No idea about that part of history, mate, but glad to learn.”
On board the flight, Daniel Vettori made some seat changes with someone else to secure himself more leg room. Who wouldn’t oblige after all! Jim Ridell, an ace American photographer accompanying this team kept everybody on their toes with his hearty humour and belly laughter.
Syed Mohammed, something of a star from last night spoke of the wonderful IPL experience where he got to work and play with overseas players and of course Indians from another part of the country. “It’s good exposure,” said the left hander who now shows prowess with both bat and ball and of course is a good fielder.
The team will now look forward to some mental rest with their six day break in Bengaluru before they take on the Pune Warriors India at home. Fans will be hoping for a repeat of their exploits.
