Toiling bowlers and the Wall at 199!

On a day, when the bowlers toiled throughout the day allaround wherever Test cricket is played, for Royal Challengers, the silver lining was Rahul Dravid getting closer to the 200 mark in Test catches. Stranded at 199 after taking a single catch at Hyderabad. Now The Wall has to wait for Nagpur to step on to 200 Test catches. Agonising, isn't it?

McCullum was exquisite in his first double Test hundred, scoring at a reasonable rate and also fending off the overs - a strategy that saw India losing valuable time and overs for India to respond on Day 5. Cheteswar Pujara's miss off McCullum proved crucial for India as the lead was only 185 then. Thereafter, it was only academic interest as India, without Zaheer Khan, toiled hard against the Kiwis lower order. For us, the interest was if Dravid could get to his 200th catch. Dravid took a sharp one of Vettori to climb up to 199, and eventually stay put there until the next Test which starts at Nagpur four days from now.

Far away, South African bowlers, including Dale Steyn were tamed by Pakistan. Spurred on by a ton by Younis Khan, Pakistan drew the game chasing 451 and ending at 343/3. At one time, it was thought that Pakistan would go for 200 odd runs required off 40 overs. But the Pak duo of Younis and Misbah-ul-Haq decided not to challenge Steyn and company to settle for a draw instead.

A special mention for Chris Gayle who stormed the Test scene with a humongous 333 effort against Sri Lanka. Kudos to the big Calypso, maan!!
