Kohli echoed Gayle’s sentiments. “That’s the way he bats. I wanted him to take the strike as you don’t often get a century in T20. So I decided to block everything after the boundary. I was disappointed to see Iqbal bowl the wide, but it could have slipped out of his hand as well.”
Team Royal Challenger skipper Daniel Vettori was ecstatic after the win. He said, “Outstanding batting from Gayle and Dilshan. If you have a player like Chris, you got to find a way to get him in the playing XI.” On the tricky Eden wicket, Vettori said, “We thought the wicket would get better as the game went on, and were proved right.”
