Uthappa shines, but briefly

The misery in the batting continued for Karnataka as they crashed to 257 all out after starting positively at the end of the first day against Baroda in the Ranji Trophy Super league at Mysore. Robin Uthappa, as an opener, struck 53 with five hits to the fence and two 6s. But after his brisk innings, Karnataka dived into depression at 149/7 before a 72 run partnership between Gautam and Sunil Joshi rescued the team. Manish Pandey perished for 4, while skipper Vinay Kumar (12) and Abhimanyu Mithun (22) added some meat to the tail. In the previous match, despite the low score Karnataka could pull of a fantastic win over Himachal Pradesh courtesy the fantastic performances of the bowlers. It's back to the same story in the match again, as gaining the first innings lead now is in the hands of the bowlers only.

Staying with the domestic league, Royal Challenger Ishank Jaggi, leading Jharkhand, scored an unbeaten 116 against Rajasthan as Jharkhand posted 254/7 at stumps on day 1.
