Vijay Zol shines yet again
After a brilliant 46, Vijay Zol's ton against New Zealand on Thursday in Darwin in the on-going U-19 Tri Series was the highlight of India's 165 run win.
This was India's second match in the tournament being held in Australia. New Zealand won the toss and elected to field. India lost AK Bains(5) early on in the innings to New Zealand fast bowler Blundell, but Anil Herawadkar and Vijay Zol more than made up for the early loss. The two batsmen held a partnership of 105 runs when Herawadkar(55) fell to Kurtley Watson. India at that time 113 with the loss of 2 wickets. Vijay Zol though, soldiered on with a splendid century scoring 128 runs off 131 balls(16*4, 1*6), his strong batting skills reflecting in his hundred. He had a well-defining 5th wicket partnership with Sarfaraz Khan(30) of 94 runs and took India to a total of 276 runs.
New Zealand lost their first 3 wickets in quick succession going from 1-16 to 3-17. India's Abhimanyu Lamba claimed the wicket of opening batsman Collier and left arm pacer Chama Milind dismissed Hicks and Steifert. Right handed batsmen Ken McLure put up a 41 but soon fell to Kuldeep Yadav. All in all New Zealand managed 111 and were all out in 42 overs.
Our young guns showed focus in batting, bowling and fielding and won the match with the handsome margin of 165 runs.
