Vijay Zol slams double hundred on Ranji debut
Maharashtra batsman Vijay Zol showed no signs of nervousness as he marched his way to a well deserved double century on his maiden Ranji outing against Tripura on Tuesday at the MCA Stadium, Pune.
Zol was picked in the Maharashtra squad after his tremendous run of form with the Indian U19 team earlier this year. Batting in his first Ranji game, the 18-year old batsman from Jalna took his time to settle at the crease. After his side dismissed Tripura for 304 on Day 2, Zol finished with an overnight score of 42*. The following day, not only did he complete his hundred but also went on to convert it into a double ton.
The youngster batted for a total of 453 minutes for his 200* that took 324 balls and included 19 fours and a six. The rest of the batsmen contributed handsomely, taking the Maharashtra total to 460/3 that prompted a declaration at the end of Day 3 with a 156-run lead.
