Virat - Gambhir duo bulldoze NZ again; India wins series

Its a trivia - what is Gautam Gambhir enjoying more - his return to form or his stint as a standbye captain of the Indian side? The answer perhaps lies in the affirmative to both the questions. His back to back century uprooted the New Zealand's wishes of a comeback in the ODI series as India galloped home winning the 3rd ODI by 9 wickets and more than 10 overs to spare and winning the series 3-0. Gambhir's 117-ball unbeaten 126 was unstoppable from the Kiwis' point of view. His partner in today's big win was again Virat Kohli, who is proving his immense talent and maturity to support the skipper till the end to see through India's victory.

His partner in today's big win was again Virat Kohli, who is proving his immense talent and maturity to support the skipper till the end to see through India's victory.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 63 as the two combined for 114 runs for the second wicket to seal the victory. Kohli's growing of age in this series has proved his calming nature in the middle and his talent to push the scoring through difficult situations. His form and growth as a matured batsmen surely puts him in a favourable position for the number 3 position in the Indian team for the World Cup. India, earlier, had put on 115 for the first wicket when Gambhir took the lead in whacking the ball and Murali Vijay, for a change in the series, played a waiting game as the second fiddle.

Earlier, Indian bowlers exploited the early morning rough in the wicket to bamboozle the New Zealand top order. Tottering at 106/7, it was but for a fighting 94-run partnership for the 8th wicket between Nathacn McCullum and James Franklin that took them to some sort of respectability. However, eventually, as it would be seen, 224 was never going to challenge the Indian batting might.
