Virat Kohli bags prestigious Arjuna award
Indian batting sensation Virat Kohli was among the 14 sportpersons to be nominated for the esteemed Arjuna award on Tuesday, recognizing his immense contribution to the sport of cricket in the last few months.
Kohli, who replaced MS Dhoni as captain of the Indian team in the recently concluded ODI series against Zimbabwe, led India to a 5-0 series whitewash, their first on foreign soil. Not only that, but Kohli the batsman maintained his purple patch in the series, becoming the fastest to reach 15 ODI hundreds in a record 109 matches, surpassing Pakistan’s Saeed Anwar who took 143 matches to get to that number.
Kohli has previously led the Indian U19 team to a victorious World Cup campaign in 2008.
