Virat Kohli named India vice-captain for Asia Cup
Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Virat Kohli was named the Vice Captain of India for the upcoming Asia Cup in Bangladesh.
The decision was announced by chief selector Kris Srikkanth after the team selection meeting at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Wednesday, a day after Kohli slammed an electrifying 133* off 86 balls in India’s world record chase of 320 against Sri Lanka at Hobart.
Royal Challengers Bangalore spearhead Zaheer Khan will miss the tournament along with Virender Sehwag and Umesh Yadav after being recommended for rest by team India and RCB physio Evan Speechly.
Vinay Kumar has been retained despite being laid low by a hamstring problem at the moment.
MS Dhoni will lead the team and Virat Kohli will be his deputy in the tournament which begins on March 11th at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur and will continue till the final on March 22nd at the same venue.
