So, even as MS Dhoni talks about post IPL parties, as professionals it’s how well you plan and execute your game in the field that determines your status as a cricket playing nation in the world. Winning two out of five games doesn’t exactly tell the story of a successful cricket team in the world, does it? While none questions India’s triumph at the first T20 World Championship, but the next two trips can be termed as forgettable pasts.

Before the participation in the T20 WC this year was touted as the most eventful of all the participating nations. We were all expecting Dhoni and his men to return home with the cup as the frenzy shifted from the IPL to the World Championship. Perhaps, we expected too much. Perhaps the players were tired. Perhaps the conditions didn’t suit the India style of play, perhaps…

Too many “perhaps” made up India’s sordid journey in the World Championship. Rather than delving on those “perhaps” and the reasons behind India’s mediocrity on the field, its time to take stock of the situation and move ahead in the right direction with a spirited intent.
