Yuvraj cracks memorable century in Lord's bicentenary match
In a dream match organized to celebrate the bicentenary of cricket’s very own Mecca, Lord’s, Yuvraj Singh stood out for the Rest of the World XI against the Tendulkar-led Marylebone Cricket Club XI with a cracking century.
The RCBian scored 132 off 134 balls to help Shane Warne’s team post a decent target of 294. Unfortunately for ROW XI, MCC XI managed to chase down the target thanks to Aaron Finch’s exceptional 181*. Finch was ably supported by Tendulkar and later on, Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s partnership with Finch ended ROW XI’s challenge.
Yuvraj, on the other hand, didn’t receive a lot of support from his teammates and had to take on the responsibility to accelerate himself. The left-hander’s entertaining knock consisted of 8 fours and 6 huge sixes. At one point , ROW XI were struggling at 68/5, however, Yuvi stayed till the penultimate over and accelerated with ease to make sure his team put up a respectable score on the board.
With the selectors having overlooked Yuvraj for the England Test series, will this memorable knock make them think twice? It’s too early to tell, but expect Yuvi to keep firing on all cylinders!
