Zaheer Khan had taken 2 wickets in 13 overs in the first innings of the first test at Lord’s against England when he suffered a hamstring injury which cut off his participation in the rest of the first test and entirely in the second test at Trent Bridge. India crashed to 196 run and 319 run defeats at the respective venues as the Indian bowling looked aimless at times and fatally so in the absence of Zaheer Khan, failing to dismiss the English tail without conceding too many runs.
Indian skipper MS Dhoni will hope Zaheer quickly finds rhythm and displays fitness enough to be cleared to play the third test at Edgbaston on 10th August.
RCB batsman Virat Kohli who was supposed to join the India squad as a replacement for Yuvraj Singh could not reach the team on time to be a part of the XI for the practice game.
