Zaks, Virat can take us all the way: Vettori

Daniel Vettori is a confident man. The New Zealand skipper who led his team to World Cup semifinal, is an excellent man-manager himself and is taking the help of Chief Mentor of Team Royal Challengers Anil Kumble in gathering as much information as possible after taking up reigns as the new skipper of Team Royal Challengers.
Aware of the poor stint that the previous overseas captain Kevin Pietersen had with Team RC, Vettori is actually turning the presence of Kumble and Ray Jennings to his advantage in knowing the players and making the local players comfortable in the dressing room. “We have to ensure that the young Indian guys feel a part of the party and get them ready so that we can go all the way. There are a few talented young Indian guys here and we will be looking to interact with them and take the pressure off them. We have some really exciting young local players here. (CM) Gautam and (Abhimanyu) Mithun have impressed with their attitude and it will be really good for local players to get a few chances and be part of the environment,” Vettori said, according to reports published.
The challenge is to strike unity in the new look team, but Vettori’s association with AB de Villiers and Tilakratne Dilshan and Dirk Nannes in Delhi Daredevils as team-mates would surely help him to be comfortable. “It will be quite helpful. Dilshan, AB and Nannes have been around with me for three years (at Delhi Daredevils), and so it will be a bit comfortable for us as a group to come and be part of the new environment,” Vettori said.
Vettori’s confidence in the team is further boosted by the presence of Zaheer Khan and Virat Kohli, two of India’s World Cup winners. “Zaheer and Virat are key parts of the Team RC. Both of them are high on confidence after winning the World Cup and hopefully they can take that confidence into the IPL and help the team go all the way.” the report said.
But Vettori is heavily banking on Anil Kumble’s guidance. “Anil’s presence is really important for me. He has led this team extremely well in the past. His knowledge of the conditions, the team, players and his overall expertise of the game is exceptional. So, from a personal point of view and team’s point of view Anil’s presence will be immensly beneficial. So, I am looking forward to gather as much information as I can,” Vettori said.
