Rudra Pratap Singh is a left arm medium pacer from Uttar Pradesh.
A product of Kanpur’s famous Sports Hostel with batchmates Suresh Raina, Praveen Kumar and Sudip Tyagi, RP came to the limelight in the 2004 U-19 World Cup.
His show in the following Ranji season earned him a spot in the Indian side for a tri series involving New Zealand and Zimbabwe in September 2005. A call up to the Test side came in January 2006 and his impressive bowling on a flat track saw him take the Man of the Match award on Test debut.
2007 was a superb season for him, his superb swing bowling in England alongwith Zaheer Khan helped India win their first Test series there in two decades. RP was also India’s leading wicket-taker and the joint second highest wicket taker for the tournament in India’s victorious 2007 World Twenty20 campaign.
He played for the Deccan Chargers, taking 51 wickets in the first three seasons of the IPL. He was the Purple Cap holder in season 2, taking 23 crucial wickets in the team’s title winning campaign.
