BCCI announce schedule for first two weeks of IPL 2024

The BCCI announced the schedule for the first two weeks of IPL 2024 and the tournament begins from 22nd March, 2024. The dates that have been rolled out for now are from March 22nd to April 7th. During the two-week period a total of 21 matches will be played across 10 cities, out of which all the teams will be playing at least three matches while the maximum number will be five.

The season will kick off with a blockbuster between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings in the latter’s backyard on Friday, March 22nd. The first weekend will feature two double-headers, the first of which would see Punjab Kings welcoming Delhi Capitals followed by Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the evening fixture.

The Sunday after those two games will witness Rajasthan Royals kick-start the day as they will be hosting the Lucknow Super Giants followed by Gujarat Titans squaring off against the five-time winners, Mumbai Indians.

Going by the press release on the official website of IPL, it states, “As in the past, the BCCI will work closely with government and security agencies, following all necessary protocols and advisories related to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in India. Once the dates for the 18th Lok Sabha elections are announced, the Board will review and address any issues pertaining to the schedule of the first two weeks. Subsequently, the BCCI will work in tandem with local authorities to finalize the schedule for the remainder of the season, taking into account the polling dates.”
