Harmanpreet Kaur delighted with ticking all the 'objective' boxes after win against Netherlands
India made it two wins in two as they bested the Netherlands women in Leeds as part of their Women's T20 World Cup 2026 campaign. A clinical all-round show saw Smriti Mandhana leading the charge with the bat while Sree Charani was the pick of the Indian lot with the ball.
Indian captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, was delighted with her team's performance as they easily defeated a relatively weaker opposition ahead of their upcoming challenge against South Africa. Talking at the post match presentation, Kaur opened up on the conditions and how the crucial century partnership between Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma shaped the fate of the game.
Shedding light on the opening partnership and the conditions, Kaur said, "We were really good with the bat. Wasn't that easy a wicket. The way Smriti and Shafali batted, gave us a really good platform. Credit to them."
Much to the woes of India, Shreyanka Patil had to be stretchered off the park after she twisted her ankle. Talking about her, Kaur added, "She's someone who's really keen to bowl. Always ready whenever the team needs. Hopefully she'll become a great allrounder in the future. Right now I don't have a clear update."
Explaining how the two wins will be instrumental for the Indian players ahead of the bigger games, Harman said, "We're in a very good situation. Whatever we wanted to achieve in these two games, we've done that. Kranti is someone who is always bowling for us. Nandni has got very good experience from WPL. She's using her experience here and good to see her getting breakthroughs in the powerplay."
