Having those kinds of creative fields is important – Shubman Gill on India’s possible blueprint against Sri Lanka

India’s bowling unit will be taking up a massive challenge when they take on Sri Lanka tomorrow. Without Jasprit Bumrah, a lot will rely on Mohammed Siraj, who will be spearheading a young pace battery in Galle, hoping to get India back to winning ways in the World Test Championship.

Talking at the pre-match press conference, Gill highlighted how India will have to rally themselves in the absence of Bumrah.

He emphasised the fact that the first two days of the clash will be crucial for the visitors if they are to eke out a positive result.

Gill said, “Bumrah is not there, but I think it is a really good opportunity for some of the other bowlers to really step up and leave a mark on the series. You have to keep trying different things to be able to take wickets. You have to create opportunities, especially on day 1 and day 2. There could be a chance that there is not much happening from the wickets. So how can you create pressure? How can you not let the game slip away too much from you? Having those kinds of creative fields is important.”
