I'd be happy to play for India again – Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar descended in his most intimidating avatar in the last iteration of the Indian Premier League, concluding the season with his best-ever haul of 28 wickets.

Of course, his impressive performance in the IPL did stir a few rumours about his potential selection in the national side.

Talking with Jatin Sapru on his podcast called ‘The Long Off Show’, Kumar opened up on his mindset of being a part of India while how he is ready to play his best game while keeping in mind that if the chance comes, he will be ready to battle for it.

Kumar said, “I'm not playing to prove anything, but I'd be happy to play for India again. I have gone past that time when I used to wait for the next series.” Kumar also said that he did hear a thing or two about him being considered for a series or two but when things didn’t happen, he acknowledged the support that his family provided him.

Kumar stated, “Till a few series. Because I had received a call. What they said, based on that I felt maybe next two series. But then I realised it's not what they said. It wasn't hurtful, because then I knew what was happening, and I made peace with it. It wasn't easy, but family played a big role.”

Sharing what he told his wife after realizing that the 2022 T20 World Cup could be his final international fray, Bhuvi added, “In Adelaide it happened. I came to my room and told my wife. I told this from my experience. In the dressing room, everyone was disappointed. There were a few briefs before we left. But when I came back to my room, I told Nupur this was my last World Cup. Because what I have seen from my experience, when you lose a tournament like this, selectors want to look ahead, and that is fair.”
