India eager to double tally in T20I series as West Indies seek survival
09 Oct, 2026 By Editor

After winning the first game of the T20I series, India will enter the second match riding high on confidence. Hurt by the Men in Blue in Lucknow, West Indies will look to push harder to restore parity in the five-match T20I series as the caravan moves to Jharkhand.

A Shreyas-Iyer special saw off the chase for India with consummate ease in Lucknow. However, the Indian bowlers also came together in restricting a heavily stacked West Indies batting order to just 171. The Islanders would be seeking a bit more stability in the middle-order after it was just a Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford show.

For India, they will be looking to hit the killswitch, whenever they are in position. Even in the last game, they were in the position to stop West Indies a lot prior to where they eventually finished. However, Sherfane Rutherford steadied the middle-order while Shai Hope’s top-order heroics didn’t let India break through.

One would expect an intent clash in Jharkhand as the two teams will have different objectives on the line. For India, it will be about coming close to the finish line, early in the series with a win in the second T20I. However, for West Indies, it will be about being alive in the series without much pressure on their shoulders ahead of the third T20I.

Venue Watch:

The Jharkhand surface has so far been conducive to the batters. The bounce is true and the carry is good. This only means that with the kind of power-hitters in both the sides, one can expect this game to be a run-fest. In the second half, dew might be coming on, letting batters unleash further aggression.
