India will meet Japan for the first time in the history of the shortest format of the game as the Suzuki Cup will celebrate the Indo-Japan bond of 75 years. India's T20I captain, Shreyas Iyer, is in absolute awe of Japan and opened up on the potential for a thrilling game in Sano.

Talking in a video posted by BCCI, Shreyas Iyer said, “It is beautiful. I mean, the time we landed, we saw the people very cordial, generous, and helpful in nature, which we see back at home as well. The hospitality is brilliant, and yeah, I mean, it is too early to talk about it, but I'm sure that I've heard special things from people about Japan as a country and Tokyo as a city as well, so looking forward to exploring more.”

Iyer who has struggled to get the wheels in motion in recent times with returns of 8*, 11 and 29 against Afghanistan, will also be eager to get back in form. He also opened up on the game, underlining that awareness of the situations in Japan might be a crucial factor.

Iyer said, “It is going to be a thrilling and exciting match for us. This is the first time we would be playing Japan, and do not know much about the conditions, the wicket, but looking forward to have a great match.”
