List of all records registered in India’s mind-blowing World Cup 2025 semi-final chase against Australia
As India knocked out Australia from the ongoing iteration of the ICC Women’s World Cup, a host of records were rattled and racked up. The Women in Blue came together to pile up a series of milestones that saw the likes of Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur shine bright while Australia’s incredible display with the bat added to the sheen of the thriller. Here’s a quick glance at the records broken and registered in India’s semi-final clash against Australia.
· India’s chase of 339 is the highest-ever chase in women’s ODI cricket. The previous best was held by Australia who shot down India’s total of 331 runs earlier in the tournament.
· This was India’s first 200-plus successful chase in a Women’s ODI World Cup. They bettered their previous record of 193 against Pakistan which came in Cuttack back in 2013.
· This was the first time that a total of 300-plus runs was chased down in a knock-out game in the history of the ODI World Cup – men’s or women’s. The earlier record was held by New Zealand who chased down 298 in Auckland.
· India also bettered their record of the highest successful run-chase in a Women’s ODI against Australia. The record formerly stood at 265 which came in 2021.
· India’s 341/5 is their highest-ever total in the history of the ODI World Cup, bettering their tally of 340 which came against New Zealand in the must-win group encounter a few days ago.
· India’s 341 is also the second-highest total totted up against Australia in ODI’s. The highest is 369 which was also pulled off by India in New Delhi last month.
· India and Australia put together an aggregate of 679 runs which became the highest-ever aggregate to be registered in a Women’s ODI World Cup game. The previous best was 678 between England and South Africa in Bristol in 2017.
· The 679 runs aggregate is also the second-highest aggregate for any WODI, with the highest coming in New Delhi last month, where India and Australia put together 781 runs.
· Jemimah Rodrigues’ 127* is the highest individual score registered by an Indian batter in an Women’s ODI chase, bettering Smriti Mandhana’s 125 which came in Delhi last month.
· Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur’s stand of 167 runs for the third wicket is the highest by any pair against Australia in a Women’s ODI World Cup match.
· It is also the third-highest partnership against Australia in all women’s ODIs while being the highest for the third-wicket.
· Harmanpreet Kaur registered her third fifty in an ODI World Cup knock-out game and now stands only second to Belinda Clark’s record of four.
· This is the second time that Australia has lost in a Women’s World Cup semi-final and both came against India, the last one in 2017.
