Putting a lot of pressure on the opposition was super fun – Tim David
Cricketers can do bizarre things but bringing a historical element to life certainly isn’t one of them. Tim David, however, decided to unleash his inner gladiator as hard-hitting history took a completely different turn with the Aussie all-rounder defining ‘gladiator’ in the boldest fashion.
Walking out to bat in the 15th over, after watching the first six balls, David decided to go fishing. He fished out absolute monsters from the sea of boundaries, launching the Chennai Super Kings bowlers to every nook and cranny of the planet.
Winning the Player of the Match for his unbeaten knock of 70 from just 25 balls, David opened up at length about his partnership with Rajat Patidar. Talking at the post-match presentation, he also underlined how detailed preparations and ample batting to follow suit gave him added motivation to go big.
Shedding light on his very special knock, David said, “Obviously very pleased. It doesn't always happen that way. You know, the skipper Rajat was absolutely smoking and I was taking balls off him. So to be able to get us to a score and obviously put a lot of pressure on the opposition, it was super fun.”
Explaining his floater role in the RCB side, David added, “I'm lucky. I try I don't change my game too much. I obviously have a period to bat for a little bit longer, but I've got the confidence from all the prep I do to try and play the same way and have the backing from my teammates and the support staff. So, you know, that's really valuable and it helps a lot.”
He further stated, “And to get the opportunity to bat, it was probably still a similar amount of balls or maybe a few more than I usually would get, but at a similar stage. And then, we get to go out and bat with Jitesh and Sheppy behind me gives you a lot of confidence. Absolutely. It's a lot of the prep we do over here.”
