As Smriti Mandhana led the charge for RCB with the bat against DC, smashing 96 runs, she had excellent support from Georgia Voll at the other end. Voll stayed unbeaten for 54 from just 42 balls, hammering five fours and two sixes. This was Voll’s third half-century from the fourth WPL game that she was a part of, accentuating the consistency that she brings to the mix.

Voll stitched together a crucial stand of 142 runs alongside Smriti Mandhana, one that took the game away from the Capitals. Talking at the post-match presentation, Voll opened up on how it all started for her and how Smriti’s striking at the other end, made life slightly easier for her.

Talking about the innings played by her and how it started, Voll said, “Yeah, I mean, it was very scratchy. So, you know, to get through that little tough period there with Smriti striking it at the other end sort of made it easy for me just to, yeah, try and build a little partnership there and it was nice to finish it off as well.”

Revealing her feelings about being picked in the squad today, Voll added, “Yeah, it was sort of like midday today that I sort of found out that I was playing. So, yeah, I was sort of just getting my head around, you know, not running water and actually getting out there and playing a little bit of cricket. I haven't sort of played in a little bit. So, yeah, it was nice to get out there and, you know, put an all-right performance on to start again.”

Georgia Voll still remains the highest individual scorer in a WPL innings with 99* next to her name. As Smriti fell for 96, Voll said, “No, I didn't get the hundred either. So there was no advice from me. She was smashing it down the other end. I actually thought she got that one through there. So obviously a bit disappointing, but yeah, the way she batted tonight obviously was a very key reason why we got the win.”

She concluded by talking about how the mood in the RCB camp is, stating, “Yeah, it's great. Yeah, we've got a quality group of players. Everyone's working super hard and yeah, it's a great team to be a part of. Obviously first year at RCB. So yeah, it's nice to get a couple of wins and head to Baroda and try and get a couple more.”
