Shreyanka Patil reveals the raw emotions on being retained by RCB ahead of WPL 2026
The feeling of playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru is always special. However, when roadblocks appear, the equation gets tricky and it is very hard to overcome the immediate challenges. But then when the dust settles and clarity comes gushing, there is no bigger exhilaration than that. For Shreyanka Patil, she witnessed all of it coming her way.
From being injured twice and with her participation in the WPL jeopardized, Shreyanka found her way back. But the moment she received the retention call from RCB Head Coach, Malolan Rangarajan, her emotions were unparalleled.
Talking on the teaser of the Big Basket presents RCB Podcast, Shreyanka revealed, “I was just thinking they would retain me because I would love to be retained by RCB because that's a big thing for me, especially. I couldn't even imagine. I was like, okay, if it's not RCB, maybe MI. No, I can't. Delhi, no, I can't. And then I get Malo sir's call about the retention.”
She further added, “Patil, what do you think? He's asking me. I said, sir, you tell me. And then, you've been retained, Patil. And then I video called Arjun sir and I started crying. That's when he's like, say something. And I'm like, I've been retained. I mean, Arjun sir doesn't really cry so much, but that day he let those tears down. And I'm like, God, I just couldn't control.”
