Team India set sights on ODI series win while South Africa hope to draw level
After securing a thrilling win in the series opener, Team India is all set to rock and roll for the second ODI which will be played tomorrow in Raipur. The Men in Blue will have a chance to secure the series if they can register a victory again which will also make a solid statement of retribution after the hosts were whitewashed in the Test series.
The return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma played a massive boost in the Indian echelons as both of India’s most experienced campaigners found themselves in a rich vein of form in the curtain-raiser. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja firing towards the end will also be improving India’s confidence in the batting depth.
For South Africa, their batters were exceptional, despite a slide in the top-order. They will be hopeful of changing things with the ball as they leaked too many runs, leading to India running away with the game. However, their newfound resistance laced with a lethal combination of youth and experience will make them a formidable force to watch out for.
Venue Watch:
The surface in New Raipur has been a batting friendly one. Despite the new ball coming in with its fair share of drift, as the shine wears off, batters will savour true bounce and shots will be easier to play. Batting tends to get easier in the second half as dew will be a major factor.
