Those were very crucial – Harmanpreet Kaur lauds India's batting partnerships in Women's Asia Cup 2026
India completed their rout of Bangladesh in stunning fashion, securing the ticket to the final of the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup. Shafali Verma led the charge for the Women in Blue with an exhilarating knock with the bat while Deepti Sharma was equally brilliant, registering figures of 3/26.
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur played an anchoring knock in the center, staying unbeaten till the end for 24. Talking at the post-match presentation, Kaur opened up on the emotions of securing a fine win against Bangladesh while heaping praise on India’s batting partnership on a difficult surface.
Explaining the surface conditions in Dubai, Kaur said, “There was value for good balls. If you were giving revs to the ball, there was value to that ball. Both teams' spinners bowled really well today. Batters were trying hard to get those runs, but there was a lot for the spinners, and they used this pitch really well.”
Reflecting on her partnerships with Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh, Kaur added, “The small partnerships were there, especially when you have a pitch like this where you don’t know how (things) are going to be, so small things matter a lot. All the partnerships we had today while batting were very crucial, and even Richa Ghosh's batting. She played a few really good shots. And with the ball, Deepti was excellent. Whenever we needed, she came up and gave us breakthroughs.”
