To come out and perform in the final is obviously super special – Georgia Voll
Chasing 204, RCB had an early hiccup as they lost Grace Harris in second over of the WPL 2026 final. In walked Georgia Voll, and a mountain stood in her way. However, being the prolific match-winner she is, she decided to pick the final to show how it’s done in sizzling fashion. She regulated the charge from the word go, never letting the asking rate get to RCB.
By the time DC could get her out, she had already racked up 79 from 54 balls, hammering 14 fours. She had also knitted together the highest partnership in the history of WPL, adding 165 runs for the second wicket alongside Smriti Mandhana.
Talking in a post-match interview, Voll opened up on the situation when she walked out to bat. She also highlighted how the break between RCB’s last group stage fixture and the summit clash was important in the players finding their rhythm.
Shedding light about the situation, she came to bat in, Georgia said, “It was just about sort of taking it as deep as we could. We know it was a really good batting wicket if we could just play it straight as we could for as long as we can. We had obviously great finishers in our team, so if we could bat as long as we could, we could finish it well. It was obviously probably disappointing that we couldn't finish it there together, but full credit to the girls and what a great season it has been.”
Underlining the importance of the break between the two games, Voll added, “A couple of soda waters, I think it was obviously nice to have a bit of a break, head to the beach, as beaches could get. It was just nice to have a couple of days off and then back into some training and it was obviously normally tough having the week off to come back in but the girls were really focused coming into tonight. Super happy we could get the win.”
Speaking about her own innings, Voll stated, “Obviously pretty high up there. Would have been better to finish it off, but to obviously play that way in the final, feeling like I couldn't hit the ball off the square for most of the season. So, to come out there and perform in the final is obviously super special.”
She also opened up on her partnership alongside Smriti Mandhana, stating, “It's obviously awesome watching her go about it, usually sitting on the other opposition. So, just to sit at the other end and watch how she strikes the ball. One of the cleanest hitters I've ever seen and just effortless. To be able to share the wicket out there with her and put a dent in that target was super special to be a part of.”
She concluded with a quick word about the nervy finish to the game, stating, “Yeah, definitely a little bit nervous. Probably should have stayed out there so I wasn't as nervous. So yeah, next time I'll make sure I'm staying out there.”
