Rishabh Pant played an exquisite knock of 63, putting India in charge after returning from an injury. Pant walked out to bat on the second day of the ongoing Colombo Test after India lost Saransh Jain early in the innings. The southpaw took some time to get into his groove, but once he did, it wasn't the best of signs for the Sri Lankan bowlers.

The master of surrealism in Test cricket, Rishabh Pant took his own sweet time to settle down. It was the 23rd ball that he was facing where he unleashed the unbridled beast in him and smacked Lahiru Kumara for a maximum over fine leg.

After the six, Pant was happy to settle down and rotate the strike as the partnership between him and Dhruv Jurel motored along perfectly. However, every time, an opportunity presented itself, Pant didn’t hesitate to go full monty as he rocked Keshara Nuwantha for two back-to-back fours.

Pant brought up his 21st Test half-century with a sweet blend of punch and pull against Nuwantha, simply extending the classy knock he was knitting together right from the outset. He was eventually dismissed for 63 off 89 balls, whacking six fours and two sixes.
