Vihaan Malhotra and Kanishk Chouhan fuel India's path to the U-19 Asia Cup final
India reigned supreme in the semi-finals of the U19 Asia Cup as they took down Sri Lanka comfortably. Two of RCB’s new recruits, Vihaan Malhotra and Kanishk Chouhan lit up the show with their individual performances as India breezed past the Lankans in the semi-final.
Bowling first, Kanishk Chouhan’s double whammy left Sri Lanka in visible discomfort. Chouhan got the better of a set Lankan skipper, Vimath Dinsara. Dinsara was batting on 32 from just 29 balls and looked menacing when Chouhan finally put a stopper in his knock.
His next scalp of the day was Kithma Vidanapathirana, who was sent packing for just seven runs. Chouhan got the perfect support from Henil Patel who claimed two wickets as well to leave the Lankans in a spot of bother.
As they say that one sets it up while the other sets it down, it was Kanishk who set it up. Another of RCB’s latest recruits, Vihaan Malhotra took the game by storm, blasting an impeccable knock of 61 from just 45 balls. He walked out to bat at a very precarious juncture as India wobbled at 25/2. However, Malhotra sticking to that ice-cold temperament of his, partnered with Aaron Varghese and won India the game without any more fuss.
Malhotra’s phenomenal knock was simply a glimpse of what the youngster brings to the table, and it also underlined why RCB highly rate the southpaw's talent to sign him at the IPL 2026 Auction.
