Virat Kohli extends purple patch into domestic cricket with 131 as Delhi cruise to big Vijay Hazare Trophy win
Virat Kohli lived up to all the hype around his return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after 15 years as he produced yet another statement innings, top-scoring for Delhi with a commanding 131 off 101 balls in a successful 299-run chase against Andhra.
Andhra, powered by Ricky Bhui’s 122, put up 298/8 in their 50 overs, leaving Delhi with a tricky target to hunt down.
Delhi’s response, however, came with intent right from the start. Priyansh Arya set the tempo with a blazing 44-ball 74 off 44 and once Kohli got into his rhythm, the chase never got out of Delhi’s grasp.
He reached his fifty in 39 balls and brought up his hundred in just 83 balls, eventually dismissed after he had smashed 131 off just 101 balls, a knock that featured 14 fours and three sixes.
Kohli’s performance played a major hand in Delhi stamping their authority throughout the chase as they got to 300/6 in 37.4 overs, achieving the target with 74 balls remaining.
