BCCI announced the squad for India’s upcoming Australian tour, confirming the much-anticipated return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the ODI side. The two paragons of India’s batting unit will be returning to international action after almost seven months as they last appeared in India’s ICC Champions Trophy winning squad.

Shubman Gill was honoured with the onus of leading the Indian side while Shreyas Iyer will be his deputy. A total of five changes has been made to the squad from the one that secured the Champions Trophy in UAE back in March. Ravindra Jadeja and Varun Chakvarthy missed out on spots while Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant are still tending to their injuries.

Jasprit Bumrah, who had a pretty consistent run in the recently concluded Asia Cup and is also a part of the ongoing Test series against West Indies, has also been rested for the tour. However, Bumrah will be a part of the upcoming T20I series Down Under.

Nitish Kumar Reddy, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal will be coming in for the ODI series in place of the aforementioned players. The T20 squad that has been selected for the upcoming Australian series just witnessed one change from the team that fared in Asia Cup.
