Destruction reigned supreme in Surat on Monday as Vrinda Dinesh, one of RCB’s latest recruits from the WPL 2027 Auction, struck a blistering half-century to give Karnataka a flying start.

In the ongoing Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, Karnataka faced Assam. Batting first, they piled up 190/6, fuelled by Vrinda’s strong foundation at the top.

Opening the innings with Shubha Satish, she found her groove from the very first over, hitting the first ball she faced for a boundary. She then hit Gyanashree Barman for 16 runs in the next over, lifting the scoring rate.

Vrinda showed no signs of relenting as she continued her assault against Jintimani Kalita, hammering 14 runs off the following over. The right-hander kept finding the fence with ease and brought up her half-century with two consecutive fours off Rashmi Dey. She reached the mark in just 18 balls and looked in total control before ending her innings on 52 off 19 balls.

The knock adds to an impressive domestic T20 record for Vrinda. In last season’s Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, she scored 316 runs, including a highest score of an unbeaten 118 - glimpses of her potential with only a few months to go before the start of WPL 2027.
