Jacob Bethell has earned a special place in the RCB fans’ hearts with a couple of handy cameos in his limited appearances for the franchise in the IPL.
This season, the hard-hitting southpaw showcased some of his power against the Delhi Capitals in what was an easy chase for RCB, smacking two gigantic sixes.
Talking on the latest episode of RCB Bold Diaries, Bethell opened up on his journey with RCB and how it has helped him to grow his game.
He also highlighted the lessons that he has received from the likes of Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik.
Shedding light on the feeling of joining the franchise, Bethell said, “When I got to RCB, I was curious about the experience. Watching Virat, Rajat, and speaking to DK, I realised the game shifts here. It’s played at a high tempo; you have to be aggressive and brave.”
Bethell, referred to as “Starboy”, had very special praise reserved for Kohli and said, “Watching Virat chase, you understand the art of batting, how to control a chase and stay not out. It’s about shifting gears based on the situation.”
Underpinning the lessons from RCB’s head coach, Andy Flower and also batting coach and mentor, Dinesh Karthik, Bethell added, “Andy observes and speaks only when needed; you listen when he does. DK is excellent at spotting things and identifying scoring areas quickly.”
